Welcome everybody to the Monthly Roundup for July, 2015.

Here’s a look at some of the top poker updates that we’ve recently published!

First off is a very popular article written by Charles Rettmuller in which he lets us know why he thinks recreational poker players are avoiding online poker. Have you also felt like the pros have too great an advantage over you at the virtual felt? If you used to play poker online and find yourself sticking exclusively to live play these days, you’ll probably find yourself nodding in agreement with this one.

Next up, Bradley Chalupski reviews a fascinating new poker book compiled by top pro Jonathan Little, called “Excelling at No Limit Hold’em”. The 500-page volume also features great tips and strategy advice from over a dozen other big name contributors. Be sure to check it out.

Moving on, James Guill turns up the heat with a, ahem, “racy” article about why it’s time for the folks over at the World Series of Poker to start spreading Strip Poker. There’s much more to this article than meets the eye, but it kind of makes you wonder if the only thing the winner of such an event would be wearing would be a bracelet.

Last, but not least, after six weeks of non-stop action, the 2015 World Series of Poker has come to a halt, with the November Nine set to resume in just about three months’ time. With over 100,000 entries and $200 million in prize money, numerous records were smashed at this year’s Series. Lee Davy lists them all in his article – be sure to read it!

Now it’s time to introduce the Baller of the Month.

Each month we’ll be selecting the poker player whose lifestyle and adventures give him or her the highest, most baller profile.

This month’s baller is none other than Kid Poker, Daniel Negreanu. The 6-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner scored tons of points in July. Let’s tally them up to see just how baller Daniel was.

For starters, Negreanu made an incredibly deep run in the World Series of Poker Main Event, finishing in 11th place. Though he didn’t make the November Nine, it doesn’t get much more baller than having an entire industry cheering you on. At various points, he shared pictures of his chip stack with everyone following along. 10 points, sir.

If you’re a Negreanu fan, you know that he gets his kicks by doing awesome things for other people. This month, at the World Series, he let a fan use his trailer as the location for a marriage proposal! 10 more points; that’s just awesome!

After the WSOP, Daniel set off on a tour of California cardrooms to help with PokerStars effort to promote legalized online poker in the Golden State. We’ll give him 5 points for that. Plus an extra 10 points for putting together this snazzy rap at the poker table. That’s pretty baller.

Finally, July 26th marked Daniel Negreanu’s 41st birthday! The Poker Hall of Famer partied hard in Toronto, so we’ll give him an extra 41 baller points as a birthday present

With a grand total of 76 baller points, Negreanu has sure set the bar high. We’ll see which star poker player will live up to the hype and be the next baller of the month.
