PokerUpdate.com Monthly Roundup – Novmeber 2015
Hey everyone, it’s Monthly Roundup Time! I’m Robbie Strazynski and I’m here to tell you about some of the best articles published at PokerUpdate.com during November, 2015.
Lee Davy snagged a great interview with none other than Michael “the Grinder” Mizrachi. Having won multiple WSOP bracelets, WPT championships, and millions upon millions of dollars, the Grinder’s poker chops are known to all. What’s less known about Mizrachi is his intense love and commitment to family, his children in particular – and it’s truly heartwarming to read about. You won’t want to miss it.
Slowly, but surely, 2015 is drawing to a close. Though the year’s not fully out yet, a number of poker players have achieved tremendous results. James Guill compiled a list of 9 such players, including Erik Seidel, Anthony Zinno, and former WSOP Main Event Champ Jonathan Duhamel. Check out this article to relive some of 2015’s top moments for poker’s most successful pros!
Unfortunately, the poker world suffered some big losses in 2015 as well. Some of the game’s most colorful characters, including Dave “Devilfish” Ulliot and Paul “Eskimo” Clark, played their final hand. Please join us in celebrating the lives of 7 poker players who are no longer with us and remembering what they’ve contributed to our great game.
Finally, on a lighter note, it’s always great for poker when some of the game’s biggest stars transcend the felt and get some mainstream publicity. Recently, Daniel Negreanu and Bertran “ElkY” Grospellier faced each other heads-up in a Hearthstone exhibition match at Blizzcon. Negreanu won the best 3-out-of-5 match and as a result, “ElkY” agreed to dress up as Hearthstone’s Sludge Belcher. Have a look!
And now, it’s time to name November’s PokerUpdate.com Baller of the Month! Let’s hear that drumroll please…
It’s Alex Dreyfus!
While Alex isn’t a professional poker player, that hasn’t stopped him from being the most baller personality in our industry over the last month. November saw Dreyfus popping up all over the world and truly putting the “Global” in his Global Poker empire.
Everyone in poker knows that Alex is French, so where better to start off the month than at a 5-star hotel on Paris’ Champs-Elysées. Tres bien! 5 points.
He then headed back home to Malta, where he sucked in one last bit of gorgeous summer weather from Global Poker League headquarters. 5 more points
Before jetting off on other adventures, Dreyfus announced a huge poker media partnership, a multi-year deal between his Global Poker Index and USA Today, the world’s most circulated newspaper. Chapeau! 10 points
Every successful poker trip starts off with an itinerary and Alex’s contained about a dozen individual stops on three continents over two weeks of travel. That’s a hell of a lot of frequent flier miles. 12 points. And, eh, first class, yes/no? 12 more points!
In Los Angeles, Alex revealed to the world what the Global Poker League’s new studio would look like – sweet! That’s another 5 points
He then wined and dined on some haute cuisine at the Bellagio in Vegas, opposite, where else, the faux Eiffel Tower. 5 more points.
From there, it was off to the East Coast to do more “business”(wink)…. Like ice skating in New York’s Bryant Park. 5 points
Sacre bleu!, we’ve never done this before, but sadly we must deduct a few points… Alex, what on Earth were you doing in Albany?!?
His trip isn’t over yet, but by the time this video gets released, Alex will be watching it from South America, where he’ll no doubt be enjoying all the samba Brazil has to offer. 5 points
Oh, and one last thing that happens to ballers? When they say they like a cookie, the cookie company takes the time to say thank you J 5 more points
With a magnifique total of 65 points (and a cookie), Alex Dreyfus was poker’s most baller personality in November.
