Unibet launched their standalone online poker room earlier this month and are kicking off Season 7 of the Unibet Open beginning March 13 and running through Sunday the 16th in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Casino Copenhagen is the venue that will feature a No-Limit Hold’em Main Event with a €1,100 buy-in that’s capped at 400 players. A new tournament structure is also in store for participants that includes a starting stack of 30,000.
For those who can’t make it to Copenhagen, a daily live stream will be available at www.unibetopen.com. Final table action will be shown its in entirety on a delay that will allow fans watching to see the hole cards of the players.
Running alongside the Main Event will be an assortment of side events tailored to the needs of all types of players, including the Omaha Flips Championship. For those who enjoy action away from the felt, the Thursday Welcome Drinks and Saturday Players’ Party will allow participants to mingle and have fun, a much-needed respite from long hours at the poker tables.
Players who won online satellites at Unibet Poker will be staying at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia hotel. Those €2,000 packages include the Main Event buy-in, additional travel money, free breakfast and dinner, and four unforgettable nights at the luxurious hotel.
For those who missed out on winning one of those coveted packages, Unibet Poker will provide additional online satellite opportunities later in the year when the Unibet Open makes its first-ever stop in Tallinn, Estonia from May 29 to June 1. Also on the schedule is a return trip to the fabulous French Riviera on September 18-21 in Cannes.
The Unibet Open will also play host to three online championship events this year. The dates are set as April 20, July 6 and October 19, with buy-ins, start times and prize pool guarantees still to be determined. Also to be announced at a later date are the particulars of the last live Unibet Open event of the season, the Unibet Open 30th Edition. Something special is promised for all at that festival.
The start of the Unibet Open Main Event tomorrow in Copenhagen at 12:00 (local time) is comprised of a player pool of 54 players from Sweden, 29 hailing from the Netherlands, 17 Poles, 12 players from Finland, 8 Norwegians, 13 from Belgium, 11 who speak French, and 21 Danes on their home turf, according to Unibet’s latest player breakdown by country.
A number of successful finishers from Unibet Open Copenhagen 2013 have also committed to making a run for the 2014 title. Those players include Johnny Østbjerg (DK), who took home $112,865 for his runner-up finish; Poland’s Marek Niedzwiedz, who grabbed $27,971 for sixth place; two places behind Niedzwiedz was Dane Peter Myrvig; and 10th place finisher Alexis Gillot (FR).
Live streaming begins at 14:00 CET each day. Through a partnership with PokerTube, live video interviews and updates will be delivered by media presenter extraordinaire Rikard Aberg throughout the event.
