The Poker Mob Return Home to Grosvenor Poker

Three of the four legendary UK poker players widely known as “The Hendon Mob” have signed a deal with Grosvenor Casinos that will see them return to the locale where their poker careers began by playing in events both live and online.

Joe Beevers, along with Barny and Ross Boatman, are now being referred to as “The Poker Mob.” The new name was chosen because Hendon Mob Limited was sold to the Global Poker Index last July.

Along with fourth member Ram Vaswani, the four poker players were often seen arriving together at the Victoria Grosvenor Casino in London to play poker beginning in the 1990s. Television appearances on Late Nite Poker from 1999-2002 helped to show off their talents and enhance their popularity.

A journalist dubbed them The Hendon Mob in 2000 and they became household names throughout the UK poker community, both individually and collectively. Instrumental in making the game of poker popular in the UK, the four are also known worldwide, albeit at a lesser extent than the esteemed status achieved in their native land.

In addition to their prowess on the felt, the four established The Hendon Mob database that lists the results of major poker tournaments worldwide, as well as breaking down the results for each player. The Boatmans and Beevers were ecstatic at signing the new deal and making a triumphant return to their roots.

:“It means we’ll be back playing where we began,” Beevers said. “The Victoria Casino is regarded as the heart of UK poker. Grosvenor is a long established name with more card rooms in the UK than anyone and we are really looking forward to working with them and visiting lots of their poker rooms, old and new.”;

“It means a reconnection with the grassroots game that I love so much” said Barny. “I’m looking forward to connecting with old and new friends all over the country.” Brother Ross also expressed nothing but fondness regarding the trio’s return. “It’s where I really began to learn my trade, so after spending many years traveling the world and using the skills I developed there, signing with Grosvenor is like coming home.”

Along with playing at live Grosvenor Casinos’ events, a PokerMob League has been established at Any player with a Grosvenor Poker account is eligible to sign up and play against the “mobsters.” Also, a new website,, will provide a forum and news updates pertaining to the Poker Mob’s exploits throughout the UK.

“We’re delighted to have teamed up with The Poker Mob,” said Rory Cartwright, Head of Online Poker for Grosvenor Casinos. “They are the most influential independent voice in the UK poker fraternity, and this deal will help to cement Grosvenor as the home of UK Poker.”
