Fans of both heavy metal music and poker now have an outlet in which both passions can be indulged. Nuclear Blast Records has launched a free-play online poker site designed to allow metalheads to enjoy social interaction while playing.
“Nuclear Blast Poker allows all metalheads to congregate, meet new like-minded people, compete for stellar prizes and live-out their passion for metal fashion,” a press release stated. The new poker site is “a community platform where metal freaks interact, show their love for metal by styling their avatar with cool hardcore items from the shop, all whilst listening to the newest music releases from the Nuclear Blast label.”
Some noted idols from the metal scene are avid poker players, such as Scott Ian of Anthrax and Threshold’s Damian Wilson. Ian is a former Ultimate Bet online pro and has competed in various WSOP tourneys, finishing 637th in the 2009 Main Event for $21,365. The 48-year-old is admittedly stoked about the new site at nuclearblastpoker.com.
“I am excited and curious to meet our fans on Nuclear Blast Poker and I can’t wait to see who’s got the skills to beat me on some of the tables,” Ian said.
