The British Poker Awards held its third annual soiree aboard the HMS President at London’s Embankment with Sam Trickett the runaway winner capturing three trophies for his outstanding 2011 on the felt.
Known for crushing high-stakes cash games as well as excelling in tournament action such as his $10 million second place finish in the Big One For One Drop at the WSOP in Las Vegas this past summer, Trickett was voted Best Cash Player, Best Tournament Player and Player of the Year. He beat out a tough field of pros in all three categories that included Ben Grundy, JP Kelly and Chris Moorman. But based on Trickett’s three tournament cashes in the seven-figure range in 2011 and his regular action at Macau’s cash games, he rightly took him the three coveted prizes.
Although Moorman lost out to Trickett as best Tournament Player, he did manage to secure Best Online Player for the third year running. Other notable pros who will be dusting off their mantels to make room for well-deserved hardware include Vanessa Selbst for Best International Player, Liv Boeree taking the crown for Poker Personality of the Year, and Craig McCorkell as Breakthrough Player of the Year.
