The schedule for the tenth season of the European Poker Tour has been announced by PokerStars, with the biggest changes being the London and Sanremo stops moving to their previous dates of October and April, respectively.
A total of eight destinations are again on this year’s schedule, beginning with Barcelona on August 28 and ending in Monte Carlo in May of 2014. Following the first locale in Spain, the tour progresses to London in October, Prague in December, and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas in January, 2014.
In the same month, a stop in Deauville will be followed by Berlin in March. The tour will wrap up with almost the full month of April on the Riveria in Sanremo and Monte Carlo.
EPT President Edgar Stuchly said that feedback from players was taken into high regard in establishing the Season 10 schedule, which calls for “less time spent traveling and more time spent playing.”
“Players at the EPT will see that we have made a deliberate decision to focus on stability,” Stuchly added.
Season 9 saw the amount of cities visited reduced from 13 to eight and included partnering with a number of regional poker tours such as the UK & Ireland Poker Tour and Estrellas Poker Tour. This resulted in a wider choice of buy-ins and more tournaments to play. It was deemed a smashing success when previous records for numbers of entries and prize pools were shattered at such stops as Barcelona, Prague and Berlin.
Also implemented last year and continuing in Season 10 will be more High Roller tourneys at each locale of the tour. Barcelona, London, Prague, Deauville, Berlin and Sanremo all feature a €10,000/£10,000 High Roller, while Barcelona and London also offer €50,000/£50,000 tournaments. The PCA and Grand Finals have slated both $25,000/€25,000 High Rollers and $100,000/€100,000 Super High Rollers.
“Really excited to see all of the top EPT stops back for Season 10 and I think this is the best schedule yet with several big festivals planned, which is great for those making the trip overseas,” Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu said. “It really gives players bang for their buck with all of the side events available at each stop.”
PokerStars will begin hosting EPT Season 10 online satellite qualifiers on Wednesday May 15 at 14:15 ET with a €1 freeze-out satellite to Barcelona’s first event. Two full €8,300 packages are guaranteed. The regular EPT 10 satellite schedule will kick-off in late May.
