PCA 10th Anniversary Kicks Off Saturday

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure begins its tenth season on Saturday, Jan. 5, hosting 41 events at the Atlantis Casino and Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

The festival will run through Jan. 14 and promises “The Best 10 Days of Poker on the Planet.” On the slate for the first day as Event #1 is the $100,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller. Also featured in the PCA’s 10th anniversary celebration are the $25,000 + $500 High Roller tournament on Jan. 12, as well as the $10,000 + $300 Main Event that begins on Jan. 7 and will conclude with the final table on Jan. 13.

The 2013 PCA will make history on Jan. 7 when the first ever Open-Face Chinese poker tournament is played. Open-Face Chinese poker consists of building three poker hands out of 13 dealt cards and has become a very popular game among pro players. One such player is Team PokerStars pro Jason Mercier, who said in November that he’s obsessed with the game and is “not sure there’s anyone in the world that is as hooked as I am on [Open-Face Chinese poker] right now.” Listed as Event #41, the first ever Open-Face Chinese poker tourney gets underway on Jan. 7 with a buy-in of $2,000 + $150. A 15-second shot clock will be used for the competition.

The PCA has been a favorite destination of many pros throughout the years. And with 2013 marking the series’ 10th Anniversary, look for a good turnout.
