News Bite - Pokerstars Macau Suspended Indefinitely

Pokerstars have been forced to suspend their Macau Millions tournament indefinitely. The tournament was scheduled to have been played in March 2012.

According to Poker Portal Asia, Pokerstars were forced into this decision as their deal with Casino Grand Lisboa will expire in March. However, Pokerstars’ Macau Poker Cup: Red Dragon will still take place in mid-February at the casino.

Casinos in Macau are under great pressure to maximise revenue. Each casino can only have a limited number of gaming tables and hosting major tournaments takes many of these tables away.

Until Pokerstars can find another venue for the rest of the Macau tournament schedule, no event can be hosted. Hotel Lisboa is expected to be the new venue, a short distance away from the Grand Lisboa.
