Players in the low stakes cash games on PokerStars were given a big surprise when one of their opponents turned out to be Viktor Blom a.k.a Isildur.
The PokerStars pro is famous for his epic battles at the nosebleed stakes, playing multiple tables against Dwan, Ivey and Antonius at the same time. Last year he won more than $1.4 million in cash games and this year has already won the PCA $100k Super-High Roller event for over $1.2 million.
Today, it was the turn of players like “TeddyT2o” and “salamandryko” to take on one of the most feared poker players around.
As soon as word got out that Blom was taking on recreational players, people took notice. Players flocked to the waiting list, and a TwoPlusTwo thread was up analysing every hand.
Immediately, rumours circulated as to why Isildur was playing such low stakes. Some claimed he was busto, while others argued he was contractually obliged to play by PokerStars.
Regardless of the reasons, it’s little wonder why PokerStars decided to sponsor the Swedish pro, as anything he does is advertising gold for the poker site.
As of writing, he has decided to two-table $100/$200 Pot-Limit Omaha with Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies, better known as “Ziigmund”.
