Amateur Las Vegan wins first real-money online poker tourney in U.S.

Amateur Daniel Healey won the first $10,000 Sunday Tournament at Station Casino´s Ultimate Poker. Ultimate Poker’s first $10,000 Sunday Tournament was capped at 200 players and Daniel Healey managed to take home a first place prize of $4,173 in the first legal, real money online tourney ever held in the United States.

“It is really exciting to be a part of history, winning the first tournament,” Tournament winner Healey said. “I have been keeping up with the news updates and poker blogs ever since Black Friday hit and was extremely excited to hear that legal online poker is here. I am excited to be living in Nevada and playing my favorite game.”

This particular event has been getting a high level of demand from players since Daniel Healey´s win, a deep starting stack of 10,000 chips and 15-minute levels provide hours of action-packed poker. Ultimate Poker officials didn´t ignore this demand and they replied by doubling the the limit for Ultimate Poker’s Sunday Tournament to a capacity of 400 players, doubling the potential prize pool to $20,000.

“Since going live on April 30, there has been no downtime whatsoever, and demand to play in our first $10,000 Sunday Tournament exceeded our expectations,” said Joe Versaci, Ultimate Gaming Chief Marketing Officer. “We ended up reaching our 200 player cap 45 minutes before the tournament opened.”

Satellites are available every day for this tournament, with greater frequency on Sunday, and range from $1 to $20. The next tournament starts Sunday at 6 p.m. On April 30
