Main Event Starts at WSOP

The Main Event at the World Series of Poker started today, as hundreds of players entered the event in the hopes of gaining everlasting poker fame. 

The $10,000 buy-in, no-limit Texas Hold ‘em tournament kicked off with the first of four starting days, which is expected to attract thousands of players over the course of the whole event. 

The field included many poker luminaries, including Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson, Jerry Yang, Greg Raymer, and “Seinfeld” star Jason Alexander. 

According to series officials, at least eight players were eliminated on the first hand of the day.
