FTOPS XXI Day 12 Results

Another player who had to leave his homeland in order to play online poker won an FTOPS tournament Thursday, but this time it was not a refugee from America. Willy “Wilmy_x” Aranzadi left Spain and moved to Portugal, as Spain is one of a handful of countries where Full Tilt chose not to seek licensure.

Aranzadi bested the field of 1,464 in Event #27, a $100 + $9 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tourney. A three-way deal allowed the top three finishers to take home at least $20,000, which was the total prize of both “Mefestofel” and “BustToRobust,” who finished second and third, respectively. A total of $146,400 was at stake due to the large number of buy-ins.

The final table results of Event #27:

1 Wilmy_x $22,659

2 Mefestofel $20,000

Only one Razz event was on the schedule for FTOPS XXI, that being Event #28, with an entry fee of $300 + $22. The $20,000 guaranteed prize pool more than tripled to $73,500 when 245 players ponied up the cash. The title went to Canada’s Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah, who won his second lifetime FTOPS gold jersey, his previous victory coming two years ago. Leah ranks fourth on the all-time FTOPS Leaderboard.

Leah took home $19,477 when he bettered Damian “gieras” Gieras in final table heads-up play. Gieras, a Razz specialist, cashed for $12,936 as runner-up. Sebastian “p00cket00″ Sikorski made the final table, finishing seventh for $1,911. Sikorski won Event #11 on Thursday, taking home more than 27 grand.
