Although cash game traffic at Full Tilt has been on the decline since the Nov. 6 relaunch, FTOPS XXI tournament action at the resurrected site has been all the rage with each event surpassing the established guaranteed prize pools thus far.
Monday’s three tourneys had a combined prize pool of $475,000, but ended up paying out more than $1 million. The action began with Event # 2, a $216 buy-in 6-Max Omaha Hi/Lo tournament. A total of 527 players bought in and created a prize pool of $105,400. Brazil’s “joaosimaobh” managed to outlast the field and took down the the first prize of $23,188. A tough field included two-time FTOPS champ Mark “xqsays” Radoja, who finished seventh for a payday of $2,318.80.
The day’s second event, Event # 3, more than doubled the guaranteed prize pool of $300,00. A whopping 705 entrants ponied up $1,060 to compete in a No-Limit Hold’em Multi-Entry tourney. A final table deal allowed first place winner “forwirls” to pocket $149,950. Added to his 94th place finish in yesterday’s Event #1, “fowirls” temporarily took over the top spot of the FTOPS XXI leader board.
The final event in Day 2 FTOPS XXI action lasted just two hours and twelve minutes. Event #4, the $216 No-Limit Hold’em Rush Turbo tournament that drew 1,018 players to more than double the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool and bring the total prize money to $203,600.
Notable pros such as two-time FTOPS winner Jack “JackQKA” Ellwood, Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, and Melanie Weisman were part of the field, but failed to finish in-the-money. Poland’s “gorskow” took the title and along with $45,810 in first place prize money, lays claim to a gold FTOPS jersey and a special gold-jersey avatar to forever display on Full Tilt.
