EPT Sanremo Schedule Released

The Italian coast town of Sanremo has played host to a leg of the European Poker Tour (EPT) since Season 4 back in 2008.

It will keep its hosting streak going in 2014 following the announcement of the Season 10 Sanremo schedule by the EPT. Festivities are set to kick off on April 9 and will conclude on April 20, when the final table of the Main Event will be played.

A total of 43 events are set to take place at this season’s EPT Sanremo, the first of which will be the first starting flight of the €770 IPT Accumulator event. A €170 satellite to the Main Event is also set to be held in the opening days of the festival, with the winner in line for a possible massive monetary return should his or her satellite success be replicated in the big show.

The EPT Sanremo will also host a High Roller event, meaning those with more than a little pocket change will have a shot at a huge payday. The High Roller event has a €10,300 buy-in and the top prize will more than likely be in the hundreds and thousands of Euros. German high roller Benny Spindler won last season’s event at Sanremo and took home €253,000 for his efforts.

While that event is set to garner some interest, it will not be anywhere near the interest that will likely be shown in the Main Event. At €4,900, the Main Event buy-in will be slightly cheaper than the €5,300 of last season.

That could help boost the number of participants who take to the felt this season. A total of 797 players turned out for last season’s EPT Sanremo Main Event, which was won by French player Ludovic Lacay.

Another factor that could lead to an increased field is that it takes place right before the EPT Grand Final in Monaco, just over the border from Sanremo. That festival kicks off just three days after the EPT Sanremo comes to a close, which may entice a number of players to enter some events in San Remo before moving on to Monaco.

The EPT Sanremo is one of three EPT legs still to be played in Season 10. The EPT Vienna will take place in March, while the aforementioned EPT Grand Final will round out the season.
