A-Rod Questioned in Poker Inquiry

Alex Rodriguez, the star Yankees baseball player, may have been involved in the illegal high-stakes poker games that other stars such as Tobey Maguire played in, according to Star Magazine.

Allegedly, several people saw A-Rod playing at one of the games hosted at fancy Hollywood houses and locations. According to reports, A-Rod was seen playing in a high-stakes game recently that had a $40,000 buy-in.

A-Rod has a history of gambling. In 2005, the New York Daily News reported that the Yankees warned A-Rod that frequenting illegal poker games in the city was a dangerous habit.

As of Saturday, MLB began to look into the allegations.

“This is the first we have heard of this, and we are looking into it,” MLB spkesman Pat Courtney said.

A spokesman for A-Rod says that the slugger never played in the illegal celebrity poker games that have been covered in the news recently, and that his name is not mentioned in the court filings related to those games.
