The Cash Game Festival, five straight days of continuous ring game poker action, will make its first-ever stop in the United Kingdom from March 30 through April 3, with online poker UK operator 888poker taking on the role of event sponsor.
The venue is the Aspers Westfield Stratford City in London where 120 hours of non-stop cash games will be played that include No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, 9-Game Mix, Open Face Chinese, Six Plus Hold’em and Sviten Special. Cash Game Festival organizers are anticipating playing host to over 3,000 players who will be arriving from more than four dozen countries.
“We intend to offer as many forms of poker at as many varied stakes as possible, but will also be available to set up games on request, subject to demand,” said John Scanlon, Head of Poker at Aspers Westfield Stratford City. “We don’t want anybody to miss a minute!”
This marks the 4th running of the festival, with the first three taking place at the Olympic Casino in Tallinn, Estonia in 2014-2015. There will be additional Cash Game Festival stops in 2016 that include Malta from June 8-12 and a return to Estonia from November 16-20.
Away From the Tables
For players who may need a break from continuous cash game action, there are other activities planned as well. A local microbrewery will be serving welcome drinks on Wednesday, March 30, a Ping Pong Challenge and other games will be available on March 31, a Cash Game Festival reception complete with drinks at the casino’s Sky Bar is on the docket for April 1, dinner and music in Canary Wharf is scheduled for April 2, and a private sightseeing tour will close out the activities on Sunday, April 3.
“I want the experience of the atmosphere the Cash Game Festival brings,” said longtime poker player Andreas Löf Nilsson. “I think there will be a lot of people enjoying the party spirit as well of the poker grinding. The best mixture – laughter combined with competitive poker.”
That competitive poker will include perks such as bonuses for high hands and other special offers. There will be a number of sponsored feature tables that will be streamed and updated at www.cashgamefestival.com for those who can’t make it to London for this exciting event. Players who will be attending can pre-register and reserve seats for the games and days of their choice at the same web site.
The Cash Game Festival began in 2014 with the intent to revive cash games both live and online. A main feature has been the ability of players to select poker variants of their choosing.
The UK Cash Game Festival will be the first time that Six Plus Hold’em will be offered, the 36-card short deck variant that was recently added to the menu of games on various iPoker Network skins. Six Plus Hold’em has found favor among a number of top pros that include Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan.
