When the European Poker Tour comes to town, it is something to see. The staff and dealers set up the venue with everything from tournament tables to swag, scheduling events ranging from satellites to parties. It is quite a big deal.

Dublin, you’re next.

The EPT Dublin Festival is preparing to kick off on February 9, and PokerStars is already proclaiming it as its largest poker festival ever in Ireland.

Not only has it been eight years since the EPT brought its tournament series to Dublin, but the venue is new to PokerStars. The Royal Dublin Society will host the activities that run through February 20, and the venue is a popular one with Dubliners. It is located in Ballsbridge, just five minutes from Dublin’s city hub, and the building itself dates back to 1731. (Pro tip: Bring your camera.)

Tournament Schedule

The schedule for EPT Dublin boasts of 67 tournaments in all. The first day begins slowly with just two super satellites to the UKIPT Main Event, but the action will be in high gear after that.

As the EPT is meeting up with the UK & Ireland Poker Tour on this tour stop, one of the highlighted events will be the €1,100 UKIPT Dublin Main Event, which runs from February 10-14. There will also be a UKIPT High Roller tournament with a €2,200 buy-in set for February 13-14.

Two days later, the €25K High Roller gets underway and is scheduled for February 12-14, with another big buy-in event – the €10K Single Day High Roller – to follow on February 15. The regular EPT High Roller will run from February 18-20 with a €10K buy-in. And the primary attraction starts on February 14 with the €5,300 EPT Main Event on tap through February 20.

Also, on Valentine’s Day, there will be a €150 buy-in rebuy tournament for fans of charity poker. There will also be unlimited €50 rebuys. The tournament will benefit EPT partner Right To Play, an organization that supports children in more than 20 countries who suffer from poverty, disease, and war. The charity uses sports, games, and various types of play to benefit those young people in dire situations.

New Offerings

PokerStars is showing off a new initiative that encourages interaction between Team PokerStars Pros and other poker players in non-poker activities. The big event at EPT Dublin will be a February 11 trampoline dodgeball tournament, and the winners will celebrate at the Horse Show House.

There will also be a players’ party for all EPT Dublin players, which will take place on the evening of February 13 at the previously-mentioned Horse Show House.

BetStars will be there as well, offering wagers on many of the big tournaments at EPT Dublin, specifically the main events and high rollers. The BetStars trading team will be in attendance throughout the series to help with betting and odds for new participants.

One other exciting addition to this festival will be the first ever EPT dealer auditions. There will be sessions on the final day of EPT Dublin, and any poker dealers with at least two years of experience can attend. Note that CVs must already be submitted to Global Poker Tours prior to the event.

Live and Online

For those of us not fortunate enough to be in Dublin for the festival, there are ways to follow along with the action. EPTLive will stream online on for seven days, starting with the final table of the €25K High Roller on February 14. And the writers for the PokerStars blog will be updating fans as well throughout the entirety of the festivities.

With nothing else on the EPT schedule until the Grand Final action in Monte Carlo in late April and early May, it’s best to get your fill of European Poker Tour action via Dublin.
