On Friday, September 11, the Pala Casino Resort & Spa in San Diego, CA will host a three-day WPT Foundation poker tournament to benefit the Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC).
The $1,100 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament will be held in conjunction with the Pala Poker Open, and will boast a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Nearly ten percent of the buy-in — $100 — will be donated on behalf of the WPT Foundation to the SOSC.
A number of WPT celebrities, including Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten, and Lynn Gilmartin will be attending an on-site party on the eve of the event to raise awareness for the SOSC. Players and fans are welcome to participate and donate to a worthy cause.
WPT Foundation and Charity Poker Tournaments
The WPT Foundation has sponsored several charity-based poker tournaments since its first event in March 2012. Past beneficiaries include World Central Kitchen, Conservation International, as well as the All In for Kids Charity Poker Tournament, which benefited the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
The WPT Foundation is a non-profit organization created by the World Poker Tour to raise awareness of charitable causes around the globe.
