The World Series of Poker (WSOPE) has announced their 2015 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) schedule, and it looks like a cracker.
Caesars Entertainment Corporation has teamed up with the Spielbank Berlin (Casino) to host the largest-ever European festival in WSOP history. There will be 10-bracelets up for grabs, a ton of side events, and cash games operating from 11am through to 5am each day.
The 2015 event will mark the first time a WSOP event has been held on German soil. The WSOP returns to Europe after a year’s absence, after taking their brand for a trip to Australia during the 2014 season.
I guess there are plus points and minus points about Berlin being the new location. The venue is amazing. Berlin is one of the most interesting and diverse cities in the world. There is plenty to do, lots to see, and if Berlin isn’t enough to whet your appetite, then consider Oktoberfest will be running Sep 19 – Oct 3, if you want to head over to Munich, for a few dozen pre poker ales.
Fields Could Potentially Be Tough
The only negative about holding a WSOP in Berlin is the fact that the Germans are so bloody good at poker. Seriously, these guys know how to lock up a poker tournament. But to be the man (or woman) you are going to have to beat the man (or woman).
“Germany is truly a hotbed for poker talent,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. “As home country to our reigning Player of the Year and 2011 World Champion, we look forward to discovering new names ready to perform on poker’s biggest stage. Berlin became a logical choice city for WSOP Europe given its proximity to all of Europe, the experienced management team at Spielbank, and the gap of time since a major poker tournament has come to the city. We believe this truly will be the best organized and contested WSOP Europe ever.”
The WSOPE was born in 2007, and for the first four years London was its home. That changed to Cannes for the next two years, before Paris handled affairs for a solitary season. The organizers are promising to make the trip to Berlin the most exciting in the tours history.
Promises to Be a Great Event
“We look forward to this new edition of the WSOP Europe for the first time in Germany and specifically our property in central Berlin at the Spielbank Berlin (Casino),” said Marcel Langner, Spielbank Berlin Director of Operations. ”It`s a great honor to host this event. We are sure all visitors will have a great time in Berlin. We will offer cash game and tournament play, as well as the Oktoberfest special to welcome our guests from all over the world. Welcome to Spielbank Berlin.”
The event organizers have pulled out all of the stops. Low rollers and high rollers will be able to get involved in the action. There will be a €550 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event, for the first time in WSOPE history, and a €550 Pot Limit Omaha event. That’s the smallest PLO buy-in event ever held across the entire WSOP enterprise.
