Ireland-based odds website PaddyPower.com opened an interesting betting market recently: The site is taking bets as to whether Full Tilt Poker will offer real money games on July 27–when it’s hearing with the Alderney Gambling Control Comission will be finished–or not.
The odds on the site are a one in eight chance that there will be no real money poker and nine in two chance there will be. PaddyPowerPoker.com, the site’s poker segment, will match any money staked as bonus dollars into the members’ poker counts as an added incentive to bet.
So, if a player bets $20 on there being no real money play at Full Tilt on July 27 they will get a $20 bonus into their poker account.
The communications manager at the site said this option mitigates risk for their members: “Whether Full Tilt Poker is opened or closed on the 27th, players will have good reason to be playing poker on paddypowerpoker.com. Either way it’s a no lose situation for our punters and poker players as they get paid one way or the other regardless of the outcome.”
