Viktor ‘Isuldur1’ Blom, who parted ways with Full Tilt late last month when the Amaya offering decided to go in a different direction in terms of pro sponsors and marketing, is rumored to perhaps be joining Unibet.
The pairing remains pure speculation at this point, but the rumor mill began churning when the Swede took to Twitter to announce that he plans to play in both cash games and tournament action at the Unibet Open in London later this month. Normally, when a pro of his caliber uses social media to inform the masses of his intentions, nobody thinks twice.
But Blom has in the past admitted to being wary of the spotlight and tends to use Twitter rather sparingly, to say the least. Several industry veterans responded to Blom’s tweet and inquired whether the 24-year-old had indeed found a new sponsor, but Blom offered no confirmation.
Unibet launched a standalone site with a focus on recreational players in February, breaking away from network affiliation with MPN. The poker room is within the top 20 of the global rankings of PokerScout, currently averaging 450 cash players.
Blom, Gus Hansen and Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan were named ‘The Professionals’ of Full Tilt shortly after the site relaunched in November 2012. PokerStars’ sister site has since rid itself of those affiliations, choosing instead to focus on player experiences.
