Ultimate Poker has decided to make two major changes to its player verification services over the past few days.
First, the Nevada based site has terminated its agreement with player verification service provider Iovation. The poker community voiced concerns over the past week when it discovered that the former Ultimate Bet software provider was being used for player verification. Given Iovation CEO Greg Pierson’s involvement in the Russ Hamilton SuperUser Scandal, players were uncomfortable with providing personal information to this company. Ultimate Poker hopes that this move would help players feel comfortable about the player verification process.
Ultimate Poker has also announced that the website can now verify online poker players that have cellular plans with Verizon, Cricket, and Virgin Mobile.
Since its launch, Ultimate Poker has experienced technical difficulties with its cell phone triangulation service. Several cellular network providers were not compatible with the triangulation service software. Given Nevada’s strict geolocation and verification rules, Ultimate Poker was unable to allow real money play to a large majority of Nevada residents due to this technical difficulty in the player verification process.
The resolution of this phone verification service means that a large number of accounts can be verified. Ultimate Poker expects that traffic on the site will increase given the resolution of this issue.
Ultimate Poker has experienced some success and failures since its launch in Nevada. Its first Sunday tournament exceeded the guarantee and player traffic has been steadily growing since its debut. However, the site has experienced some key technical difficulties including download issues and player verification problems. Nevertheless, the site has been a relative success in the infant real money gambling market in Nevada. The site hopes to build upon its early successes and resolve the lingering issues.
