American Wagering’s US sports betting application, Leroy’s App, has been approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board for use on Apple’s iPhone. Leroy’s, which can only be used by registered in-state users, was first offered on the Blackberry and then on the Android at the beginning of the year. The first of its kind for the iPhone, it will undergo security and efficiency testing for up to 180 days before being released to the public.
“We have had a great deal of demand and interest in the iPhone app launch,” Senior VP John English told the Las Vegas Review Journal. “With our new kiosks and mobile apps, this has really changed our business.”
American Wagering, which was acquired by William Hill earlier this year, plans to expand its offering to other mobile devices such as the iPad. Vic Salerno, Chief Executive of American Wagering, told the Las Vegas Review Journal that the company will also add a Facebook app in the future.
The release of the iPhone app comes a month after a deal between American Wagering and Golden Gaming was approved for the placement of sports betting kiosks in 37 bars and taverns in Las Vegas.
