The South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas yesterday announced the launch of play-money poker online. The site is the first of its kind to be directly branded under a Vegas casino’s name and tied to its rewards program.
SouthPointPoker.com, whose platform will be powered by Zen Entertainment, will be accessible to members of the casino’s loyalty program on October 6 and to all players by October 17. Players will compete for cash and non-cash prizes, including vacation packages and $10k buy-ins to the World Series of Poker’s Main Event.
Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) deputy enforcement chief Teresa Zellhoefer told the Associated Press that because regulators viewed the site as a promotional tool, there was no need for them to license the launch.
