PokerStars to Open its Doors During UKIPT on Isle of Man

Ever wonder what goes on at the PokerStars corporate headquarters on the Isle of Man? Players, fans and anybody interested in knowing the answer are invited to find out from Wednesday, October 30 – Monday, November 4 when PokerStars will open its doors and provide a tour of its facilities.

The open house will be held in conjunction with the UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) that makes a six-day stop on the Isle of Man that features a £1,100 Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of £500,000. Other tournaments are also on the schedule at the Villa Marina with lesser buy-ins of £110 and a higher entry fee of £2,200 for a November 2 High Roller event.

The first-ever poker tournament held in the hometown of PokerStars seemed like an ideal time for the world’s top poker site to roll out the red carpet for its loyal players and fans.

“PokerStars is very proud to bring a large-scale poker festival to our corporate hometown to allow poker players to learn about PokerStars and our home,” said UKIPT president Kirsty Thompson.

In addition to players, the guided tours of the Onchan offices are available to Isle of Man residents, whether or not they patronize the poker site. About 80,000 call the Isle of Man home, located between Ireland and Great Britain in the Irish Sea.

The servers used to operate PokerStars are located on the Isle of Man and visitors will get an informative look at how the cards are shuffled via random number generators. If you’ve ever experienced a bad beat at PokerStars (haven’t we all?), you can see for yourself that the cards being dealt and landing on the board occur randomly.

A job fair will also be held during the six-day festival that provides details about job openings at the corporate headquarters, in addition to opportunities at parent company Rational Group’s London and Dublin offices. Rational also operates sister site Full Tilt Poker and employs over 1,500 personnel in more than 20 worldwide locations. The company provides customer support in 29 different languages and boasts branch offices in Costa Rica, Malta, Italy, Australia, and France.

PokerStars has twice achieved the honor of best place to work by The Great Place to Work Institute. A wide range of job opportunities are available at the website. PokerStars employees will be permitted to play in the Isle of Man UKIPT, provided that they plunk down the required entry fee as any other player would.
