Online poker service PKR has launched a version of its 3D poker app for the Android platform in what is its latest move in expanding its operations.
The release comes after the UK-based company, which is famous for using 3D graphics and player character animation, successfully released services for the iPad and iPhone for users in the UK earlier this year.
PKR Chief Operating Officer Leon Walters said that the Android service was one of the many steps in the company’s device to further expand its reach to the growing amount of tablet and smartphone users.
“We’ve always appreciated the importance of offering our unique software across a wide range of mobile devices, and this Android version is the latest advance in an exciting direction for PKR,” he said. “With the ground-breaking apps our team has built, we’re now ready for a full scale assault on the mobile market.”
As it stands, the Android app offers access to real money ring game tables ranging from $0.01/$0.02 to $25/$50, as well as Sit & Go’s that range from buy ins of $0.10 to $1,000. Multi-table tournaments and other game features are expected to be a part of future versions of the app, which have been touted for release later in the year.
Launched in 2006, PKR has grown to have more than 5 million registered users in its service, and currently ranks 25th on PokerScout’s Online Traffic Rankings, with a seven-day average of 325 users on its service. The service allows each player to customise their characters, and incorporates body language, expressions and chip tricks to make the game more realistic.
The app is free to download from PKR’s website, and supports many of the most popular smartphones and tablets which use the Android platform, such as Samsung Galaxy, HTC One, Sony Experia Z and LG Nexus 4.
