PokerStars announced yesterday the list of pros who will attend the first ever UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Isle of Man.
The list consists of 15 professional poker players, including Daniel “KidPoker” Negreanu, two-time WSOP bracelet winner Jason Mercier, Physics-lover Liv Boeree, and Vanessa “Lady Maverick” Rousso. Alongside Barry Greenstein, Isaac Haxton, David Williams, Jake Cody, Andre Coimbra, Vicky Coren, Fatima Moreira de Melo, Mickey Peterson, Dale Philip, Adrienne Rowsome and Felix Schneiders, they will try to create a unique and friendly environment for all participants.
“We are looking forward to welcoming high-profile poker professionals to the Isle of Man. For many of them, this is their first time visiting the Isle of Man and they will be joining hundreds of players on a journey to PokerStars home town. They too will be able to go to the behind-the-scenes and learn more about PokerStars operations,” said the President of the UKIPT, Kirsty Thompson.
The PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) will stop between October 30th and November 4th on the Isle of Man and will feature 12 tournaments ranging from £50 (Pokerstars Charity Tournament) and £110 (No-Limit Hold’Em Super Deepstack EPT Edition) to £1,100 (UKIPT Isle of Man Main Event) and £2,200 (High Roller 8-Handed). The Main Event will be the center-stage of the series and will have a guaranteed prize pool of £500,000.
The Poker Festival promises to bring many tourists to the island during what is traditionally a quiet time. “The event will give us a welcome boost for our visitor numbers. I believe there could be as many as three or four hundred people coming over for the event and we know the island will give them a warm welcome. That’s one of the things we are really know for,” said the Head of Isle of Man tourism, Angela Byrne, to BBC News.
