PokerStars continued shuffling its executive staff by creating a new role entitled Head of Poker Communications and tabbing Lee Jones to fill the position.
Jones previously toiled as PokerStars' poker room manager from 2003-07, as well as presiding over the site's European Poker Tour on the live circuit. After serving in various other stints in online gaming with such companies as Cardrunners and Cake Poker, Jones returned to PokerStars in 2011 as Head of Home Games.
In his new role, Jones will "engage audiences in forums, media, events, blogs and internally, infusing in all of us his passion and love for the game,” said Eric Hollreiser, PokerStars' Head of Corporate Communications, whom Jones will report to on a daily basis.
Earlier this month, Hollreiser promoted Michael Josem from Senior Security Manager to Head of Public Relations at the world's top online poker site. That followed last month's announcement that Rafi Ashkenazi joined the Rational Group in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer, a position he formerly held with Playtech.
“I love poker, and I love being part of the broader poker community," Jones told eGaming Review. "This new role will allow me to serve as the community’s representative to PokerStars, as well as PokerStars’ representative to the poker community.”
