Poker players dream of playing in the World Series of Poker Main Event, but many never get the chance because of the $10,000 buy-in.
Casual players and those with a limited bankroll who would love for that dream to be realized need look no further than 888poker. The poker site aims to make the dream come true for a number of players this year, as was done last year.
888poker is again running Step Satellites round-the-clock for the 2016 WSOP Main Event. Buy-ins start at just one cent at the first step, giving players even on the tiniest budgets an opportunity to live the poker experience of a lifetime, and perhaps to even achieve riches and fame.
There are seven available steps on the path to winning a $12,500 WSOP Main Event package that includes the $10K entry fee, $1,500 for travel expenses, a five-night stay at the Vdara Hotel, a welcome party, and a goody bag of 888poker swag. Players can buy-in at the step of their choice.
Step 1 – $0.01 and guarantees one Step 2 seat for every $0.10 in the prize pool.
Step 2 – $0.10 and guarantees one Step 3 seat for every $1 in the prize pool.
Step 3 – $1 and guarantees one Step 4 seat for every $5 in the prize pool.
Step 4 – $5 and guarantees one Step 5 seat for every $30 in the prize pool.
Step 5 – $30 and guarantees one Step 6 seat for every $160 in the prize pool.
Step 6 – $160 and guarantees one WSOP 2016 Main Event Qualifier seat for every $1,050 in the prize pool.
WSOP Las Vegas 2016 Main Event Qualifier – $1,050 and guarantees one $12,500 WSOP Main Event package, with more packages added for every $12,500 in the prize pool.
888poker has partnered with WSOP for the second year in a row to provide exclusive World Series of Poker satellites. The partnership last year resulted in more than 120 players sponsored by 888poker and playing in the Main Event who got there via satellite tournaments.
“888 is an important part of the WSOP family,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. “We applaud 888’s commitment to market the game with unique offers and incentives around the biggest poker festival on the planet, and hope many online qualifiers have their dreams dealt in Las Vegas.”

For those skeptics who may think it’s nearly impossible to start at the first step at one penny and make it all the way through seven steps to win the WSOP Main Event package, it’s not. Tommy Yates did it in 2015, turning that 1c into a 486th place finish for a cash of $19,500.
Yates made a vacation of it by bringing his family along and enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Who will make it to the WSOP Main Event in 2016 by risking only a penny? Might it be you?
