Poker players looking to tune up their game before this summer’s WSOP action in Las Vegas will be pleased to know that 888poker has announced another Super XL Series to take place next month just prior to the kick-off of the 47th annual WSOP.
Running from May 14-22, the fifth edition of the Super XL Series has 40 events on the schedule, including the $1 million GTD Main Event on Sunday, May 22. The 40 events combined will pay out at least $3,000,000 in prize money – guaranteed.
Buy-ins Affordable for Everyone
As has been the standard of previous Super XL Series’ at 888poker, a Mini, Main, and Turbo version of each tournament is offered. That allows low budget players to get in on the action with buy-ins as low as $5, as well as the high rollers who won’t bat an eye when plunking down $1,050 for the Main Event or $2,100 for a $400K GTD High Roller.
One of those high rollers is 888poker pro Dominik Nitsche.
“I just heard there will be another XL series right before Vegas so that’s amazing news as it will give me a chance to get in some big tournaments before playing the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl,” Nitsche said. “I will be playing on 888 a lot, practising and trying out a few new, different things I have been working on.”
Nitsche won’t be the only 888poker ambassador aiming for the huge prize pools offered at the Super XL Series. You can expect other 888poker pros such as Sofia Lövgren, Bruno Politano, Jackie Glazier, Nico Villa-Lobos, Kara Scott, Bruno Kawauti and Akira Ohyama to take seats at the tables as well.
The action gets underway on May 14 with the $88 buy-in $88,888 GTD Crazy 8 Super XL Kickoff, which is similarly structured to the Crazy Eights 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em event at the 2016 WSOP. As an added bonus, the winner of the Super XL Series online event will be awarded a seat into Event #54 of the WSOP tournament.
Other featured tournaments of the Super XL Series include the $250,000 Opening Event Multi Chance, $10,000 America’s Event, $15,000 Omaha, $30,000 8-Max, $50,000 6-Max, and the $200,000 Whale. Satellites for next month’s Super XL Series are already running with entry fees as low as 1¢.
From $2 Million to $3 Million
Players may remember that the fourth edition of the Super XL Series held in January guaranteed $2 million in prize money over 38 events. This newest edition added two tournaments and upped the prize pool to $3 million! The reason behind the increased prize money is that all of the guarantees were reached in January’s Super XL Series, including the $1 million Main Event that paid out $1,200,000.
Whether you’re a pro aiming to work on your game prior to the WSOP or a poker player of more modest means, there are a bunch of tournaments on the Super XL Series schedule designed to fit any and all stake levels. And the action begins May 14.
