It’s not too early to begin thinking about the 47th annual WSOP that kicks off on May 31 at the Rio in Las Vegas and will run through July 18th when the final nine players of the Main Event take a hiatus until October 30.
WSOP.com in Nevada aims to send a bunch of players to half a dozen key tournaments on the schedule via satellites and qualifiers. Those events include the Colossus, Millionaire Maker, Monster Stack, Seniors Championship, Ladies Championship, and the Main Event.
While a satellite schedule will soon be released for most of those tournaments, WSOP.com in both Nevada and New Jersey has begun hosting online qualifiers for the Main Event. That package is valued at $13,000 and covers the $10,000 Main Event buy-in, $2,000 for travel expenses, and $1,000 to enter the Online Bracelet Event.
In addition, online players can also qualify to win $1,000 in WSOP tournament buy-in chips. In other words, win the $1,000 prize and use the cash to enter whatever WSOP event strikes your fancy.
Main Event Qualifier
Every Sunday for the entire month of March, WSOP.com is hosting a $200 buy-in qualifier that guarantees a $13,000 Main Event prize package as mentioned above. The qualifier begins at 5:00 p.m. EST in New Jersey and 5:00 p.m. PST in Nevada.
Re-entries are available for the first two hours of the event, allowing busted players to shoot more than one bullet if need be. And don’t forget, a victory in the qualifier is like a two-for-one, as the winner of the prize package will also gain entry to the Online Bracelet Event. This year marks the second running of the Online Bracelet tournament.
$1,000 Tournament Buy-in Chips Qualifier
Players on a tighter budget who would like a chance to go to the WSOP on the cheap also have a chance to do so every Sunday this month. At 3:15 p.m. PST in Nevada and 4:15 p.m. EST in New Jersey, a qualifier worth $1,000 in WSOP tournament buy-ins is hosted, with an entry fee of just $10.
Re-buys and add-ons are permitted in the $1K qualifier, with late registration available for 100 minutes. Take a shot at winning a seat to a 2016 WSOP event of your choosing for only $10.
This year’s WSOP Main Event gets underway with flight 1A on Saturday, July 9. Flights 1B and 1C will continue the next two days.
The Online Bracelet Event will be played starting at 1:00 p.m. on July 8 and will conclude on the same day. There will be no transition to a live final table this year.
Online poker players in Nevada who have their eye on competing in satellites and qualifiers for events such as the Millionaire Maker and Colossus, PokerUpdate will provide the schedules of those qualifiers as soon as the information is released by WSOP.com.
