PokerStars to Alter Tournament Leaderboard Prizes in 2015

PokerStars has unveiled upcoming changes to its Tournament Leaderboard (TLB) prizes for the 2015 calendar year. The modifications will take place in the Monthly and Yearly TLB payout structures, with more than $800,000 in total prizes scheduled to be divvied out to PokerStars TLB winners next year.

The Monthly Stars Tournament Leaderboard will only be in effect throughout the summer months of June, July and August. Each month, $100,000 will be awarded to the top finishers in the respective TLB races. This differs from the traditional TLB races that have occurred every month up to this point, and could be a decision made by PokerStars to increase its promotional efforts during a time when traffic is typically at a seasonal low.

The 2015 Annual TLB will offer $450,000, which will be spread out among the top 100 finishers. The first place finisher will receive $35,000 cash, an entire year of pre-paid entries into the Sunday Million weekly flagship event, along with approximately $5,000 in major online poker tournaments played on the site. The individuals who end 2015 in second and third place will receive $25,000 and $15,000 respectively, along with Sunday Million entries.

Weekly TLB winners will be included in a freeroll at the end of 2015 with a potential overall value of $52,000 to be competed for among 52 players.

The PokerStars Tournament Leaderboard formula is comprised of different variables which calculate each player’s performance in multi-table tournaments on the site. Event buy-in, the number of entries, along with placement within a tournament are all used to award TLB points per event.
