888poker has entered into a contract with the World Series of Poker that calls for lead sponsorship duties at both the 2015 WSOP and WSOP Europe.
The announcement came via a press release from WSOP two months in advance of the 46th annual running of the series in Las Vegas, Nevada. Under the agreement, 888poker takes the title as the official site to offer online satellite qualifiers outside of certain regions that include the U.S., Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, India, British Columbia & Quebec.
The duration of the sponsorship deal is reportedly one year and will see 888poker funnel players to the WSOP and WSOPE via step satellites with entry fees starting as low as one cent.
“As a true partner with the WSOP on the B2B side where we power their real-money gaming in the United States, this was a logical next step for us to carry the power of the WSOP to our players across all other major markets we serve,” said 888 Holdings Senior Vice President & Head of B2C, Itai Pazner. “This broad package gives 888poker players a great opportunity to win their way to WSOP events on our online poker site, plus gives us terrific content and assets to market our brand.”
That marketing includes a new promo entitled “Double Up” that will award packages to the WSOP Main Event and the first-ever Online Bracelet Event combined. Those packages are valued at $14,000 and cover the buy-ins for both tournaments ($10,000 and $1,000), as well as expenses set aside for travel and accommodations.
WSOP and 888 Tackle Live Reporting
888poker and WSOP parent, Caesars Interactive Entertainment, are online poker partners in New Jersey, Nevada and the UK. The cozy relationship is further solidified by the new sponsorship deal that will see 888poker assist in live reporting duties that include chip counts and tournament updates.
This marks the first year that WSOP will be handling the arduous task of providing real-time live event data. Players looking for tournament updates while the WSOP events are underway can find them at WSOP.com as well as 888poker, with the latter posting a syndicated feed of the information on its poker and gaming sites.
“888Poker has been a great partner to CIE for many years now,” said Ty Stewart, Executive Director at WSOP. “We’re proud of the comprehensive offering 888poker will have for any player outside the USA who dreams to play in our flagship events. We see 888poker’s expanded sponsorship as an important step to qualify players affordably and bring additional prize money to the tournaments.”
Players competing at the WSOP, as well as fans viewing the action at home on ESPN, can expect to see the 888poker brand exposed significantly during tournament play that will include “above the felt sponsorship and on-site branding boards.” Also, 888poker will play a key role in supporting the distribution of televised WSOP action throughout jurisdictions in Europe.
