Genting Poker has announced that it will no longer take action from players in Canada and nine European countries due to licensing and regulatory issues.
Gary Oakes, Genting’s poker manager, made the announcement via Hendon Mob, which recently signed an exclusive affiliate deal with Genting Poker.
Oakes said: “This recent decision has been made following a very careful (and lengthy) review of the law in those countries listed, and the advice given to us is that online gambling is illegal in those countries, in its current format.”
“I do believe this is a short to mid-term issue rather than a long term problem. [E]ventually many of these regulated markets will join up into one EU regulated market,” he added.
Players will have until October 17 to withdraw their funds from their Genting accounts.
