The District of Columbia announced last week that it would not consider any bill to repeal its online gambling legislation until a period of public consultation was complete. Well the public is beginning to speak up. Some 85% of respondents to a recent Washington Times poll think that online poker should be legalised.
In July, councilman Tommy Wells called for the bill to be repealed on the grounds that a proper public process had not taken place. However, a decision will not be made until after the conclusion of meetings with the DC public this autumn.
