Microgame, owners of the People’s Poker Network, has handed back it’s French gaming licence from ARJEL before any poker site could launch, according to eGaming Review.
The company has been capable of producing a site for its poker or sportsbook networks since early last year. Despite this, no site went live before its withdrawal.
While no official statement has been released, there are beliefs that the withdrawal is down to ARJEL’s fourth-quarter results, showing a 23% drop on money wagered online year-on-year in the French regulated market.
Microgame is second in terms of cash game traffic in Italy, according to Pokerscout. However, it is the second operator, after TitanBet, to withdraw from the French market.
