Gary Loveman, Chief Executive of Caesars Entertainment, has indicated a desire for Congress to allow licensed US entities to be able to provide online poker to Americans. With the dominant “World Series of Poker” brand, Caesars claim they are in pole position to provide such a regulated service.
Loveman also condemned the recently indicted online poker companies (PokerStars, Full Tilt, and Absolute Poker) as illegal offshore operators who have violated US law. In his opinion they are not licensable if the US legalises and regulates online poker.
As a result, Caesars Entertainment could provide a catalyst for online poker to be regulated in the US within the confines of a law abiding organisation. This could potentially resurrect the careers of American online poker professionals, while it highlights the unlikelihood of PokerStars and Full Tilt ever operating in the US again.
