Belgian Regulators Take Action on Gambling Sites

The Belgian Gaming Commission (BGC) has officially placed poker operators PKR and Redbet on the online gambling blacklist.

The regulator has blocked the primary dotcom domains of the Alderney-licensed PKR and the Malta-licensed Redbet. The BGC has also added Curacao-licensed GoldenCherry Casino and Klaver Casino on the black list as well. The addition of PKR and Redbet brings the total blacklist online gaming sites to sixty-nine.

The Belgian Gaming Commission has been attempting to develop the online gambling market in the country through approvals of licensed operators while combating black market operators. Recently, the BGC confirmed the dot.be domains such as bwin.party.be and circusbet.be to offer online gambling products such as poker and casino games. Bwin.party also received a license to operate its sports betting product, CKO Betting NV, which will include Formula One wagers.

According to regulations, online gambling operators must secure a land based casino or a partnership with an existing casino to be approved for dot.be site. At the moment, nine online gaming companies have received approval to offer different types of wagering.

In an e-mail to players PKR stated: “Existing Belgian PKR players will have 40 days to withdraw their balances from their accounts.”
