The NYX Gaming Group has acquired the Las Vegas-based social gaming developer, Zen Entertainment.
Zen Entertainment had been a social gaming developer that primarily focused on poker. The company had operated a network of subscription based poker sites. However, after a brief existence, the company filed for bankruptcy in January 2013 after conceding flaws in its business model. The operator was unable to attract enough clients to its subscription based site.
Despite Zen Entertainment’s failures, NYX Gaming Group hopes that the acquisition will aid its transition into the emerging United States market. The NYX Gaming Group created its United States gaming division, NextGen Gaming USA, in October 2012 to form partnerships with land based casinos in Las Vegas.
The company plans to develop social gaming and real money poker products in the upcoming years. Currently, the group has established a partnership with Nevada Gold Casino Group.
