Wimbledon is always going to produce some great battles and energy sapping rallies. However it was not the likes of Andy Murray or Rodger Federer who took to the centre court. This time it was Paddy Power and Boylesports who shared a mini digital rally of their own on Twitter:
— Paddy Power (@paddypower) E-mail Tennis is a super way to lose a few pounds before holidays! A fiver on #Murray to win #Wimbledon should do the trick #wefearyou — Boylesports (@Boylesports) June 24, 2013
Paddy’s cheeky tweet was referring to Boyle’s Wimbledon’s Money-Back Special. The offer, as described on Boyle’s website, promised to “refund pre-tournament Outright Winner bets on the Wimbledon Championships if Rafa Nadal wins the tournament”. Unfortunately Rafa Nadal was to fall at the first hurdle at the hands of world number 135, Steve Darcis.
It took Britney Spears a monumental 55 hours to divorce childhood sweetheart Jason Alexander, compared to the 3 hours it took for Darcis to dispose of Nadal, ending Boyle’s Wimbledon Special. In answer to Paddy’s tweet, Boyle hit back encouraging punters to back Andy Murray to make up for any losses incurred and played on Paddy’s #wehearyou sign off with #wefearyou.
Who served match point? You can decide for yourself, regardless it is refreshing to see two brands with a sense of humour!
