Viktor Blom is not alone anymore! Ben Tollerene has just joined the 2014 million-dollar online poker profit club and is ready for more in February.
According to HighStakesDB, Tollerene, who plays on Full Tilt under the nickname “Bttech86,” won $1,444,718 in January alone. He is on a major heater if we look at how many hands he needed to reach this incredible milestone. He played only 8,690 hands and 95 sessions at the highest stakes in online poker in the first 31 days of the year. It was on January 22, 2014 when he hit the million-dollar mark. “Bttech86” played two sessions against “Isildur1” that day, one at the $400/$800 Pot-Limit Omaha stakes, and the other at the $500/$1,000 CAP PLO tables. In the first session, he recorded a $177k profit, while in the second one that lasted around two hours, Tollerene won $417k.
During the first session, Tollerene took down the biggest PLO pot of the year so far. It was all about pre-flop raises and reraises in that hand. A big part of their stacks went in the middle pre-flop and by the turn, both players were all-in. “Bttech” had pocket Aces double-suited with not much improvement post-flop. Blom had A-Q-2-4 double-suited and improved his chances on the flop by catching a pair of Queens and a flush draw. Unfortunately for him, he bricked both streets twice as the Run It Twice option was enabled at that particular table. Because of that, Tollerene won the whole pot of $283,696.
But that didn’t stop Blom from becoming the biggest winner of January. Although he lost two of the biggest pots of the month, Blom tops the leaderboard with a $2,154,113 profit. He was a true grinder to start 2014 as he played 48,517 hands and 426 sessions. As usual, he was involved in all types of poker variants from No-Limit Hold’Em and PLO to Limit Omaha 8-or-Better and 2-7 Triple Draw. Surprisingly, most of his winnings were from grinding the mixed-games: $1,373,677. “Isildur1” also won almost $800k at the FLO8 tables last month.
Third in the leaderboard is unknown “mikki696.” He played exclusively PLO, cashing in $581,500 in 10,513 hands. The unknown had two great days at the beginning of the year, cashing in $300k.
Ike “luvtheWNBA” Haxton is the fourth biggest winner of January with +$393,494. He had a big day on January 21, crushing Blom at the $400/$800 NLHE tables. He won $563k that day and also the biggest pot of the month. Haxton caught a dream flop with the made flush and bet big three streets. “Isildur1” didn’t believe him and called all the way just to see how $322k can vanish in seconds.
At close range sits American Doug “WGCRider” Polk. He won $390,731 in over 6k hands. He finished off the month with two great wins against “SallyWoo” and Blom. He took $70k from SallyWoo and $125k from Blom at the $500/$1,000 CAP NLHE tables.
The biggest loser of January is the ever-present Danish poker player Gus Hansen. He had yet another million-dollar-losing month, leaking $1,367,890. Overall since 2007, Hansen lost over $16 million on Full Tilt. British Alex “IReadYrSoul” Millar is second in the red leaderboard with -$659,520. He lost all that money in just 1,389 hands at the NLHE tables against “Isildur1.” He didn’t play much on PokerStars, just 412 hands this year. How will he respond in February?
