Nosebleeds Report: Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond tries to make a comeback

After being crushed by Macau-based player, “samrostan,” Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond returned to the poker tables and is currently trying to climb out of the hole.

Galfond enjoyed a six-figure win on Friday by playing the game that helped him stay afloat throughout the year: 2-7 Triple Draw. He finished the day as the biggest high-stake winner, earning $177.5k, according to HighStakesDB. All his profits were won at a $1,000/$2,000 table that featured other big names like Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, Niklas “ragen70” Heinecker, Eugene “fishosaurusREX” Yanayt, and his 8-Game nemesis, samrostan. With this new win, Galfond is up almost $2.34 million at the 2-7TD tables in 2013.

In the last seven days, however, Galfond is still the biggest online poker loser with -$488,693.

Swiss Ronny “ronnyr37617” Kaiser is second on the losers’ leaderboard with yet another six-figure loss: -$162,112. Two weeks ago, he lost $215k.

The third and last player with a six-figure loss in the last seven days is “thecortster,” an unknown who plays occasionally on Full Tilt. Since 2011, he has played only 22k hands, mainly No-Limit Hold’Em and 2-7TD as of late.

The biggest online winner from last week is “samrostan,” who crushed Galfond and won almost $1 million in a 48-hour span. Overall, he played 41 sessions and 11,444 hands, earning $675,316 between December 15 – 22, 2013. He was a major winner at the mixed games but also the biggest loser at the 2-7TD tables, dropping almost $200k.

German high-stakes pro “ragen70” is next in line with a $139k profit. He decided to mix things up and didn’t just play his favorite game; he took a shot at the 8-Game tables, winning $56,143 in three sessions.

Blom is finally back to winning ways after spending much of the last two months on the wrong side of the leaderboard. “Isildur1” finished the week with a $128,482 profit. To end his downswing, Blom played like a true online grinder: 175 sessions and 13,846 hands, from NLHE and Pot-Limit Omaha to Limit Omaha 8-or Better, 2-7TD and 8-Game.

Daniel “w00ki3z” Cates is fourth in the winners’ leaderboard and the most successful player on PokerStars over the last seven days. He played three small NLHE sessions, winning $92k; the rest of the last week’s sessions were played at the mixed games tables.
