Online gaming service provider Ongame has been chosen by Italian company Cogetech to power its new poker site Izipoker.it. The move was announced by Ongame’s owner, Amaya Gaming Group, which said its the online poker provider would provide its services to the recently launched Italian site.
The news comes a week after it was discovered that the Canadian headquartered company has hired former Absolute Poker CEO Paul Leggett to be the head of its online gaming area. IZIplay is a well-known brand in Italy as the online gaming company is a sponsor of Italian Serie A Football Club AC Milan, and offers its gaming services – including poker – via the website of the football powerhouse.
The deal is the latest in a growing global network for Gibraltar-based Ongame, which operates in France, Belgium, Denmark, Spain as well as Italy. It also helps further establish Cogetech’s presence on the online gaming market via IZIplay. The company is already strongly established in the live Italian gaming scene – it currently owns 189 gaming establishments in the country, all of which operate under the IZIplay name.
Cogetech CEO Fabio Schiavolin expressed his delight at the agreement and was hopeful the partnership would help lead to good things for online poker in Italy. “Amaya is a perfect partner for us in the Italian market with outstanding products for both poker and casino,” Mr Schiavolin said. “Ongame Poker is the only provider with full mobile support including both Android and iOS compatibility.”
His sentiments were echoed by Amaya Gaming Group CEO David Baazov, who said that his company was looking forward to working closely with such a major brand in Italy well into the future. “The signing of Cogetech is an important achievement for us in a key market,” he said. “Amaya will be able to support them across the board and we look forward to working together.”
The agreement between Amaya Gaming Group, Ongame Poker and Cogetech was done through Active Games, the distributor of Ongame Poker in Italy.
