While online poker has been legal in Nevada for over 15 months, the Silver State took another step forward in embracing the Internet by locating a bitcoin ATM on the Las Vegas Strip.
The new bitcoin ATM can be found at 3735 S. Las Vegas Blvd, which is a tad south of Harmon Ave. Those wishing to use the ATM must have a bitcoin account, but a new account can be established at that location.
Las Vegas casinos do not accept bitcoin, but players can access the bitcoin ATM and convert bitcoins to cash. The virtual currency remains somewhat controversial in that no countries have yet passed legislation to fully recognize bitcoin as a currency, VegasInc reported.
The bitcoin ATM is likely to be welcomed by tourists visiting Las Vegas. While worldwide use of the cryptocurrency remains a work in progress, the fact that an ATM can now be found on the Strip shows that acceptance is growing.
There may come a day when bitcoin ATMs will be available directly inside casinos. In the meantime, virtual currency traders on the Strip will need to use the new bitcoin ATM near the Travelodge and across the street from CityCenter.
