On Sunday we speculated that Daniel Negreanu may have a prominent role at the soon to launch Poker Central. We can now confirm this is the case. On Tuesday, Poker Central contacted PokerUpdate and other media sources directly to inform us that Daniel Negreanu is a new partner with the company.

Negreanu had been heavily promoting Poker Central from his Twitter account in recent weeks, leading many to assume that he may have a role with the company. He will add his duties with Poker Central to those as a member of Team PokerStars, further proving that he deserves the title of Poker’s Greatest Ambassador. Daniel jokingly hinted that maybe Poker Central read our piece on Sunday and took that as a hint. While we appreciate the compliment, we suspect that Poker Central’s signing of “Kid Poker” was a true no-brainer.

Negreanu Synonymous With Poker

Bringing Daniel into the fold made perfect sense as he is easily the most recognized name in the game today. CEO of Poker Central Clint Stinchcomb praised Daniel’s addition, stating, “We are excited to add Daniel to the Poker Central team. Daniel is a great ambassador of the game and will help take televised poker to new heights.”

Daniel took to Twitter following the announcement, showing excitement for the upcoming project:

There are few players with a track record equal to Daniel’s. He is #1 on Poker’s All-Time Money List with almost $30 million in lifetime tournament earnings. Some of his other accomplishments are as follows:

  • Six World Series of Poker Bracelets
  • Two World Poker Tour Titles
  • 2013 WSOP Asia-Pacific Main Event Champion
  • 1999 United States Poker Championship Main Event Winner
  • Second in 2014 Big One For One Drop
  • Four Straight Years Winning $1 Million or More in Live Tournaments (2011-2014)

What Role Will Daniel Play?

Without a doubt, Daniel Negreanu will be heavily featured in any original programming made by the company as well as any promotion material connected with the channel. We reached out to Poker Central following the announcement and CEO Clint Stinchcomb told us that, “as a partner at Poker Central, Daniel will be a key spokesperson for the 24/7 Poker network, as well as a promoter of – and player in – the upcoming Super High Roller Bowl.”

Daniel’s talents go far beyond the felt and we should expect to hear from Negreanu behind the mic both as commentator and trainer. Poker Central plans to educate players as well as entertain and what better person to serve as a trainer than the tournament poker’s all-time money leader.

Daniel Negreanu’s is easily poker’s greatest ambassador (sorry Jason Somerville fans) and that role will expand with Poker Central. The marriage of the two is a perfect fit and will surely help the channel and the game grow dramatically in the coming years.
